What's in my makeup bag?

SinĂ©ad from Bumbles of Rice asked other bloggers
if they would show the content of their makeup bags.

I think it is a lovely idea to share tips and tricks with other sleep-deprived mums
to let us help each other "to look human after theee hours sleep."

And of course, I'm quite nosy sometimes.
I just like to see other peoples makeup bags. Ha!

Even though I wear makeup since nearly 20 years now, be warned: I don't use fancy brushes or applicators, I don't buy extraordinary makeup brands and I don't watch vlogs to be up-to-date regarding new stuff on the face painting market out there.
Sorry.

But now: Let's go!

I take a shower every single morning.
I simply don't function without one.
Even if it's only a 2-minutes-speedy one,
I NEED that to feel comfortable.
I wash my face in the shower, too,
(Of course. Try NOT to wash your face in the shower
and tell me how you got on. Thank you.)
and 2-3 times a week I give it a scrub.

I've got very dry, sensitive skin.
And it all got worse after my 2nd pregnancy.
But these two products really do a good job for me.
I use the Garnier Moisture + always at night
and sometimes in the morning.
Sometimes, I use the BB cream instead.
In the morning.

I love both products.

I also use make-up every day.
If I went for the BB cream in the morning,
I only use a very small amount
on top of that.
If I went for the moisturiser,
I use a bit more.
I have no explanation, why and when I use what.
I just do either the one thing
or the other.

Blush.
Only a bit.
To contour the cheekbones.
I use a travel-brush thing.
You take off the lid
and push up the tuft
and apply the blush.

At the moment it's a Maybelline one.
I don't really like the colour,
it's a bit to "pinkish" for my skin tone.
But I couldn't be bothered to spend more money
for just another blush.
Typical me.

My pencil collection.
Every day: Eyebrow pencil.
Black kajal.

Sometimes: Grey kajal.

Very rare: Turquoise eye liner.
More for the odd night out.
Once a year.
Twice, maybe.

The use of eye shadow is reserved for weekends
or special occasions.
Sometimes, if I remember to,
I use the liquid one DURING THE WEEK, EVEN!!!
I know.
Call me posh!
.
I love it, actually.
I should use it more often.

The Smoky-Eye-Triple-Thing from Rimmel
is used more frequently.
For evening events.
The second n the line, the turquoise one matches the turquoise eye liner.
The brown/beige Rimmel stuff just went in the bin.
I maybe used it once or twice.
It makes my eyes looking even MORE tired.
Nobody wants that.

Last but not least
and used EVERY day:
Black mascara.
I like this one a lot.
It's not expensive,
it's applied quickly
and that's what I need in the morning.

Because after applying all the other
different creams,
powders,
shadows,
gels,
sprays etc...
the patience of my baby boy is almost used up
and he's clinging to my leg.
Whining.
Screaming for attention.
The poor fella.

That's it.
My facial morning routine.
It looks as if I spend ages in the bathroom.
But I don't.
The face painting takes me about 5 minutes.
5 well-spent minutes.
Because if I don't plaster
the black circles,
the blemishes and creases
and if I don't moisturise my poor dry skin
every morning...
I simply don't feel well.
FACT.

This was my contribution to this linky.

Creative Sunday

Yesterday was a bit of a shitty one.
After Alfie had decided to wake me up at at 6:14am,
I jumped around the house all day,
looked after everyone's needs,
drove the girl to her football and Irish dancing training,
tidied up the house,
did the laundry works,
made lunch, snacks, dinner,
cleaned, fed, washed, ran, drove, fed again, read baby books, sang, folded, put up laundry, took down laundry, tidied up again and again...
The same things I do every day, really.

But it was SATURDAY.
WEEKEND, like.
When most people are OFF work.

At the end of the day, I was rather exhausted.
Tired.
Upset.
In desperate need of a break and some me-time.
I had a lump in my throat.
I couldn't stop yawning.

The best husband in the world read my face. He knew, I was about to cry. He understood. He gave me a hug. And today...
...he took the kids to the park.
He entertained them ALL DAY LONG!!!

And I had the house all for myself.
So I blew the dust off my sewing machines,
went through my piles of fabrics,
and after a long long break of NOT sewing,
I started getting really creative.
And by the time the kids and Gerd returned from their trip, I was uber relaxed, happy, and delighted with myself.

This is one of the few things I made.
And it feels so good to be creative.
I wish, I had more time.

You're not like them.

At some stage in your life
you might come upon people
who seem to like to upset you a lot.
By the way they talk to you. Or about you.

In a quite rude way, without being asked, they might start a conversation about your most personal matters. ALL. THE. TIME.
Like your post-baby body shape. Or about your decision to breastfeed. About your way of wearing make-up everyday. Or not wearing it some night, because you hadn't expected any visitors. About your decision to try not to eat meat. And of course about your hair. That you shouldn't wear it like that.
Or they treat you as if you needed their advice on how to cope with normal day-to-day tasks, just because you're a few years younger than them. And therefore, they know better. And they like to tell you that. They might use every opportunity to try to educate you, even. And they just don't see, how you feel. That they sometimes hurt you a lot. That they make you cry. Sometimes. After they're gone home again.
They "don't mean it".
They think it's funny.
They do it, because you're just not like them.
Maybe.

And then...
THEY FUCK UP!!!
They fuck up BIG TIME!!!

And your very first thoughts are:
"Hahaaa!!! That serves them right!!! Now its payback time, folks!"

But... you think a little more and watch them fucking up. You lean back and think and listen... and finally... you just feel sorry. You're astounded at how they did it. And you pity. That's all.

Because, you're just not like them.

You lucky duck.

Healthy Food for Cati!

My "best blogworld friend"  Cati (aka BBF) asked me
if I would be so kind and share my experiences
on the subject of "Healthy Food for the whole family".
And because I am so very good and know a LOT about how to eat healthily
and how to satisfy your beloved ones by cooking them good, well-balanced, varied meals every day,
I am more than happy to reveal the oh-so-good recipe of today's afternoon dish.

You need:

50g unsalted butter + a pinch of salt
OR
50g salted butter

250g plain flour
4 eggs
500mls milk

a husband/boyfriend/partner/friend
kitchen cleaning solution
a cloth

Put the flour into a mixing bowl.

Add eggs and milk and

a pinch of salt.

Whisk!

Melt the butter in a small bowl in a microwave.
Make sure, to put the temperature on a high level
that the butter explodes during the melting process
and covers all the inside of the microwave.

Get your husband/partner/boyfriend/friend
to take the kitchen cleaning solution and a cloth
to clean the microwave.

CAUTION!!!
If you have NO husband/partner/boyfriend/friend to hand,
omit the explode-butter-in-microwave-step!
Just MELT it carefully.

While the microwave is being cleaned by someone,
melt 50g butter in a small pot on the hob.
At LOW temperature.
NO explosion needed this time.

(SKIP his step, if your butter-melting-task had ended successfully without a mess)

Add the melted butter to flour-eggs-milk-mixture and whisk.

"Paint" the bottom of a rather large frying, pan
with a bit of butter.
Wait, until the pan is hot enough.

Put dough into the pan.
NOT TOO MUCH!
Just enough to cover the
base of the pan with a thin layer!
If you don't have a fancy
 ( I don't!)
just carefully swing the pan around a bit
until the whole base is covered.
Just remember:
A THIN LAYER OF DOUGH IS ALL WE WANT!

Wait until the top of the layer of dough is dry
and firm and turn it over.

Put it onto a plate and spread chocolate spread
(spread spread spread)
over 1/4 of the whole circle.
Like that:

Now the origami part:
Fold...

...fold again and again...

...DONE!

Serve.

Eat.

Oh.... you said HEALTHY.
Um.... eeeerrrm...
Well.

There are super healthy nuts in the chocolate spread.
And milk. Milk is important.
The calcium and all... you know yourself.

See?
Healthy... satisfied family... I got it all covered.

You're welcome!

:-)
